USO Event

Yesterday started out as a blah day but ended up fun for us specially our toddler. Hubby went to work early in the morning and was hoping he comes home early. They are still on the process of reintegration and lots of briefings going on.

After breakfast I readied the kids and we went to our friend's apartment unit for the kids to play and some chitchat. My friend made rice cake with cheese for our merienda. We went home after lunch and hubby called. He asked if I'd like to bring the kids on post. There was an even sponsored by the USO wherein military kids can play and watch Sesame Street's live performance for free. It wasn't late yet so we decided to go.

We got to post just in time for the show to start. It was fun. It's not only the kids that enjoyed the show but also the adults. I even had fun since it was my first time to watch a live Sesame Street show. The kids got freebies during th show too. Afterward we went to the ground and let our DD1 played at the bounce slides, had her face painted and listen to a live band where kids are singing. She also enjoyed riding a pony. It was her first time and she had a blast. I can't wait for our DD2 to experience such in the future. It will be fun to look at two beautiful daughters having a good time.

Jobs in Health Care

It has been three years now that I am staying at home. A shift I've chosen to personally take care of my family. It is also a decision we came up after we moved from our previous duty station. Ever since I am inclined nore to work in health care. This is why I have been doing trainings and going back to school taking up medical courses. When I first started school here in the US I took classes that gears toward nursing degree so I can work in health field later on. For years I have been searching what careers that are still in demand despite the change in economy. What came out in popular searches are health care jobs. Right now I am still far from finishing the nursing degree but I am training for health care related jobs like medical coding and billing and this coming September I will be starting the medical transcription certificate program. I am hoping after this trainin or even before I finish I can get a real job in health care field.

Last Combat Troops Leaving Iraq

After many, many years of being in Iraq, the last combat troops are now leaving. Hubby is one of them. When the war first started, hubby was there too as one of the troops deployed there. It is very monumental for all of the combat troops leaving the place. I saw in the news of different channels about the pulling out of the combat troops. I can't say as a military wife if I will be relieved though for mu husband because I know for sure there is still the possibility of him going to Afghanistan after a year or too.

For the meantime, I am very excited to hear a call from the Rear-D of my husband's unit. They will contact us, the family, to inform us of the welcome home time once our soldiers are about to come home. I can't wait and I can't sleep because of too much excitement. I pray that all the troops are safe while they fly to home.

Furniture Shopping, Again

When hubby comes home he told me we are going to replace our bedroom furniture. The living room and dining room furniture were already replaced during his R&R leave. So being always at home and have access to internet, I am browsing online for bedroom sets. I stumbled through many sites and was able to see other furniture as well like the sofa console table that my husband like. He bought a small console table in April but the size is very small for the area. This glass top console table below, I would say is what he has in mind but instead bought a smaller oval one because according to him there's no bigger table. But I am not so sure too since it has glass and glass tables with little kids for me is kind of dangerous combination.

If ever, I may have to opt for another design that I think I can have peace of mind especially when my small kids run around the house. This Magnussen Blakely rectangular sofa table I believe will be perfect. Aside from its size and shape, the design have additional shelf for storage. Check out the picture below. It has traditional touch to it that I also like that would fit in our traditional contemporary decor.
I hope that we can both agree on the bedroom set to get next month. I am also hoping that hubby will like the sofa table above. I just wanna wish for this furniture shopping/hunting to be over soon.

Our Growing Family

This picture was taken last year when hubby left for Iraq. I was two months pregnant then and our DD1 was 28 months old. I was somewhat scared then and praying that my pregnancy will not be difficult because DD1 needs me. The first trimester was not as smooth as my first pregnancy but I was very thankful to God that I was able to manage it.

Came my delivery in April of this year. Hubby wasn't here yet for his R&R and so I was able to managed the whole ordeal with my friends help. I am so thankful and appreciate all that they did to me. Hubby was home 4 days after and stayed for two weeks. His stay wasn't enough for me to recuperate fully but we can't do anything. It's his work's mandate. He left again and I was so apprehensive of everything but then again God is so merciful and faithful that He never fail to protect my growing family.

Now, after eleven months total of deployment our daddy will be coming home. It will be different when he come home coz there'll be three girls to welcome him with open arms. I will be very much happy that he will be here to see his girls growing up. We will be reunited again as a family.

Hot and Humid

It's really getting hot inside our apartment. The temperature outside makes the indoors' temperature to go up as well. Even if I open the windows it still would not make it better unless I turned on the fan as well. We don't have air conditioning unit in our apartments. I don't know why most apartments here in our area don't have one. I hope we have more ceiling fans too but we only have one in our bedroom. The kids' room don't have one. I heard that because of the mild temperature here in the northwest that air conditioning system is not necessary. We wanted to settle here in this area and I will make sure that we will have air conditioning system in our own house in the future. Right now the ceiling fan in the bedroom and the humidifier is on overnight so the room will become cooler and we will not be sweating while asleep.

Travel to California

I have been to California once only. Well, if I include the lay over as my point of entry when I came here in the US then it will be twice already. My first real trip there was when we went to Hawaii and used the Space A flight of the military. We drove to Travis Air Force Base and from there we hopped on Space A. While we were in California we drove around the cities near the base and even drove down to San Francisco.

It was around summertime so there were lots of vacationers that we met driving to California and even campers as well riding on with their RV's. I remember while we were at one of the rest stops I met Filipino couple. She mentioned to me that they're hoping they can look for a shop that does rv repairs because they need their vehicle to be checked. I can only hope that time that they're fine.

Anyways, this year we are also planning of going back to California. We are looking at this September or October. I am just hoping that we can push through it in September because I want to be there during the One Kapamilya Go and see some friends. I already told hubby about it and we will just see his schedule once they're here.

So Excited

"I'm so excited, and I can't hide it!" Yeah, that's my theme song right now. Why? Because hubby is soon to be home. I can't contain my happiness that after a year of being away from us they will be redeployed to home.

I already have the date of them leaving from where they are right now. Still, that date is not final. But at least I can see the window of their departure and arrival. The Rear-D is already communicating with us, the families, about their homecoming. As a matter of fact there will be schedules of meetings and preparations in welcoming them.

Having to experience multiple deployments already I can say I still am not used to it. There are still instances that I will question why they have to be away. It is hard for growing kids to explain also why they don't see their dads often and why they only see them in the computer. But that is their life as service members. I can only say that I salute to all of our troops and I am just so glad that they are coming home soon.
