Sprained Ankle

On Saturday when I chatted with my husband he told me that he got hurt. Of course I got worried and asked him what happened. He said he twisted his ankle while playing basketball with other soldiers. He sent a picture to me of his sprained ankle and it's purple and swollen. He said he already went to the medic for it. I told him to make sure there's no nerve stuck inside or torn ligament coz it will not get better unless the problem is corrected. He assured me that it's not that serious and it will get better soon. It was only a little bruised. I am hoping so too. I asked him again earlier how's his ankle and he said it's getting better. I hope it will get better soon as well.

When Vehicle Break Down

During the feast of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz we were invited by the Filipino community to attend a rosary and a potluck dinner afterward. The mass was at five in the afternoon. After the mass me and my friends moved our vehicles near the venue where the rosary will be held. Unfortunately, my friend's car won't start up. Every time she turn the ignition on she will hear a clicking sound and it will not start at all. The other Filipino elders helped us in fixing what was going on with her vehicle but still to no avail. So we ended up calling her insurance company and after few minutes a tow truck came by and about to tow her car. But before that the mechanic checked what was wrong. Good thing the mechanic was able to fixed it. But she was advised to have her car checked since there are parts needed to be replaced.

I mentioned it to my husband when he called me the day after and he told me if my car break down and cannot be fixed unless I bring it to an auto shop, he said that I'll just park the car here and then waited for him because he will do the fixing himself. Auto shops will charge an arm and a leg just like what they give my friend an estimate if she will change the parts that is needed to be changed. I was wondering too earlier while I was driving when I saw an rv towing truck how much the owner of that rv will pay when her or his rv will be brought to the shop. I bet it will be very costly as well. So for me when my vehicle breakdown, knock on wood, I will be forced to drive hubby's truck and just garaged my car.

Wrinkle Talk

Yesterday we attended a birthday party of one of our good friends here. As usual when ladies get together, the conversation always involved fashion, beauty products and about our kids. One of the ladies were talking about her wrinkles coming out because the kids are not listening to her. And we all have the same sentiments. Our growing children will really pass through a phase where they just let our advices pass through the other ear. From that conversation we were comparing notes being a mother and a wife. Then we switched our topic to know what are the best eye cream for wrinkles since I noticed I have few lines already. I must admit that when I look at the mirror I feel that my age is showing already :-) I need to refresh myself and maybe have a good pampering at the salon and then I will be good to go.

Skyping

I am very glad that right now our communication with hubby is very great. He was able to avail a 24 hour internet connection. Although we pay $65 but I believe it is worth it because we got to chat and right now we are using Skype as well. We were able to talk and see each other online. It is for free because we both have Skype account. My other friends whose husbands are also deployed were using the same. Aside from talking online, hubby also make sure to call me everyday. I believe they're only given 15-30 minutes talk time over the phone because there are lots of soldiers who are also in line to call their families. But sometimes, me and hubby will be on the phone for more than an hour especially if there's no other person waiting. After we talk on the phone he will go back online and we will chat again before he go to bed. It is still hard not seeing him in person but with our set up right now I can't ask for more. The time fly very fast and anytime soon we will be together again, in God's grace.

Nutritionist Consultation

This coming 14th I have a schedule to meet a nutritionist. This is going to be a one-hour one-on- one consultation with the said nutritionist. Back in July I went to my healthcare provider because I easily get dizzy. Since my annual check is already due, she did a physical as well as blood chem work up for me. It was found out that my bad cholesterol level is high. I asked her jokingly if I already need and appetite suppressant just to curve down my food in take. And she laughingly told me that what I need is to go to a nutritionist and they can deal with my nutrition. So on Wednesday I will be seeing a nutritionist. I initially told our daughter's nutritionist about my situation and although she is a Pediatric Nutritionist she can also answer some of my queries. But for the official consultation, I will be seeing another one. Hopefully after the three months timeline to lower my bad cholesterol and making it normal will not be as hard to do.

Christmas is Almost Here

In another two months it will be Christmas again. So have you thought of what gifts to send or give to your loved ones? I myself is having a hard time thinking about the coming season. I will be spending it with my DD only and hopefully some friends who are in the same boat with us. But our other friend was invited to go to her in-law's in the south. So I am not sure what to do this Christmas time. But as always I have to scout for some nice but inexpensive things to give to the kids, especially the school age ones and even those family members that are already working. Like my sister, for the longest time she has been asking me to give her and Imprinted USB drive but still I haven't given it to her yet. I don't know how much it cost but I guess it doesn't cost as much. So hopefully this coming December I can already give her that wish. I will also be looking on something special to give for hubby that he can really use while being away. It is just difficult to give him something since he always tell me not to get him anything. Now I have to think of different things that is special only for him.

Buzzed Up

I got buzzed up by another driver while driving on Saturday. We went to The Children's Day at the park in our area. We were on our way home and I was driving along a 4-way street. I am at the right lane and have to turn to the left. When the light went green I made a left turn but did a wide turn thinking that the car beside me is not turning. I did not see his signal lights on. So when I turn and then transfer to the left lane right away, the driver was following behind. I think he was trying to increase his speed but I was on his way so he buzzed me up. I really did not thought that he will turn as well. I realized what I did wrong and I wave, saying sorry to the other driver. My friend who was driving behind me did not made the wide turn so she saw what happened and told me that the other driver wasn't close enough. I think what prompted him to buzz was the fact that I made a wide turn and if his speed was fast enough he could have hit me from the rear. So my lesson learned is not to do it again and made sure to look before making a or change a lane. Of course I always do it but next time I will be extra careful. :-)

TV Stand for Our Daughter's Room

Every time our daughter's friends come to our apartment unit I can't let them play long inside her bedroom since I am afraid they will run into the tv stand that we have right now. It is not sturdy and hubby forgot to replace it before he left. When they're inside the room I always check on them and remind them not to pull the baskets on the shelves below it since it will shake the whole cabinet and the television may fall on them. As you all know kids just love to run and jump around without looking where they are running to. So, now I am planning to replace it. This is why I was trying to look online as well in store for a low and sturdy tv stands so I will not keep reminding the kiddos.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is now very common. A lot of people who wanted to have a perfect smile tend to visit a cosmetic dentist to have their teeth whitened or even reconstructed, or what term you wanna call it :-) Last year I visited one and had a quote to have a new denture and also asking for a quote if I opted for dental implant. The amount I got was exorbitant so I decided to put it on hold. A friend of mine who is in Texas told me that she wanted to visit a Plano dentist she heard about that does cosmetic surgery and other comprehensive dentistry services. She's very excited since it has been ages that she's been planning to have dental implant done but she was waiting for enough money to afford it. Now, she said she thinks she can already afford the fee so she will go a visit the dentist. I hope all goes well for her.

United Through Reading

There's a Military Program called United Through Reading wherein deployed soldier can make a video while reading a story for their kids back home. The USO will be the one who will send the video as well as the book the soldier chose to read for their kids. So when our daddy was in Kuwait waiting for their flight to Iraq, he went to the USO and did the video story. The first book he choose was The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. Last week we got the package. It was addressed to our DD. As soon as we got it we played it and our DD was very excited and amazed seeing her daddy on the video. So, now before she go to sleep and in the morning when she wake up she will say watch Daddy.

This is a good program since it will promote connection between the deployed soldiers and their kids. The video does help to soothe her once she asked for Daddy during the day. There are nights that she will wake up and cry for Daddy and it does break my heart. Maybe in her young mind she is wondering why she is not seeing her daddy anymore. Daddy said that he made two more video story reading which we will receive in the coming weeks. Below is the picture of our DD watching her Daddy reading her the story. She was eating her cookies and drinking her milk while watching Daddy.

Pond Filters

If we have our own place I would like to have a pond where I can grow koi fishes. I am not really sure if it will thrive here but I think there's a way to grow them. I saw a pond as part of the landscape at the International Marketplace in Hawaii and I love watching the fishes. It soothes my mind listening to the drizzles of the water and the carefree fishes. The pond is nicely designed and it's clean because they put pond filters all around. It is very important to maintain cleanliness and also give the fishes it's needed oxygen. I do hope that one day this wish of mine will come true. It would be a lovely addition in our backyard.

Hanging Out with Friends

Lately, I am always out of the house. Me and our DD hang out with our friends just here in our apartment complex. There are three of us which our hubbies are in deployment. I am very fortunate to have met them because we're all in the same boat. So we made arrangement to be together almost everyday so the kids can play as well as share whatever food we are making for the day. But most of the time we arrange where to have lunch or dinner. It does help also to take some load off our back especially in cooking and cleaning :-) It does make our day fun and not boring. Yesterday while we were having lunch here at home my friend asked for help about looking for new insurance provider for their vehicles. Good thing we have access to internet I was able to look for auto insurance quotes that will fit their needs. She don't have computer at home so she was very glad I was able to help. I am so grateful for having them as a support system that is why I am also doing my part to help since they're very helpful to me as well. God is so good for giving me friends like them.
