Learning Corner

As parents, we are our child's first teacher. All parents want their kids to become somebody when they grow up. We wanted them to have a good happy life. We do our best to give them the best possible foundation so that later they will be successful. Right now our daughter will be 20 months old this month. Although she is showing interest in learning but I cannot get her to concentrate especially when reading her a book. But what I noticed, she just want me to read to her favorite one. Right now she will hand to me her fave the Goodnight Moon book anytime of the day when she sees it.

In the morning when she wakes up there are three things that she wanted to do. First is to go to her learning corner and ask for her crayons and scribble for a good minutes. I have to be behind her all the time though because she will also scribble on the wall. Second, she will point to the television for her nursery rhymes at Baby Boost or Baby Genius. Third, she will point to the computer and say 'ah-ah' for starfall.com's Learn to Read.

Among the three, she can sit in front of the computer more and concentrate at starfall.com. I guess she likes an interactive learning. Hubby's laptop have a very tiny mouse that fits our DD's hand and she likes using it. She knows what it is for and when we are on her favorite website she will click the mouse to go to the next page. Sometimes she does it right but there are times that she ended shutting down the laptop.

The above picture was taken one morning. She was scribbling on her easel given by her Dad on Christmas. That corner was her play corner before and I decided to make it her little learning corner. She has the alphabet poster, her easel, her books in the bin under the easel and some educational toys. Her stuffed toy animals and 3-1 exersaucer was moved in her bedroom. I am trying to teach her to sort her toys so she know what and where it should be kept when she is not playing.
