Naughty Espresso Stand

A week ago hubby mentioned to me that his soldiers in their company were telling him about this certain espresso stand in Lakewood. One of his soldier said that it is not a place for married guy to go and buy espresso or coffee. He asked him why? He said that the ladies that works there were wearing almost nothing.

When hubby came home he told me about what his soldiers told him. I asked him if he want to see it for himself. He said no and for what. I told him maybe you got intrigued about it. I am not a jealous type and as long as he is not doing anything I will not nag. He said nah he is not interested. This afternoon we went to the college to drop a form to one of the ladies at the enrollment center for my CAA application. From there we went to Old Navy and bought couple of things for our DD.

When we were on our way home we decided to eat or buy food and groceries at the Filipino store in Lakewood. The espresso stand that his soldiers were talking about is just in front of the Filipino store and its name is Bikini Bottoms Espresso. I told hubby to pass by there and get latte. I got intrigued too. I even teased hubby that he really wanted to see what the other soldiers were talking about and he just smiled. True enough the line there was kinda long. There were 8 cars total including us and the other espresso stand from two blocks behind don't have customer.

The young lady that was there was wearing a bunny outfit baring almost everything and to think it's very cold outside. I say it is not a decent outfit. It doesn't pass for an outfit even but an underwear. I don't condone it but it's their marketing strategy so to speak. They attract customers and mostly men based on the cars that were ahead and behind us. In fairness, their hazel nut latte that I got is pretty good :-) It is sad but it is the second espresso stand I see that goes for that kind of strategy.

My Dr.'s Appointment

Yesterday was my well-woman check up. As I have said before that it was long overdue. The thing the I really dislike with this yearly check up is the pap smear :-) I bet all the ladies agree with me. So I went there and everything went well. The doctor said based on the physical check I am pretty okay. The result of the pap will be mailed to me. He mentioned to me that he saw in my record that I have an appointment at the OB-GYN. He also ordered a mammogram test as well as blood work.

I asked him about the mammogram if it is really required since I am only 32 and he did not find anything wrong with the physical. I don't have family members also that has breast cancer. I got confused with him. But I went to the Radiology clinic to have a mammogram scheduled. When I got there the lady told me that there was no order and she told me I am only 32 and based on my record there was no breast exam anomaly so she said that I am okay and I don't need to do it. Although I still have to check with the doctor next time I go in there.

Then I proceeded for the laboratory. When I got there I found out the doctor did not put the order yet. So I went back again to my clinic and asked for the order. After 20 minutes I came back to the lab and the receptionist asked if I did not have anything since I will have a cholesterol test. I did not know and I just had lunch while waiting. I have to fast for 10 hours for the cholesterol test. They took blood samples for other tests and I have to go back there for the cholesterol test. I detest this blood drawing thing but it is needed :-)

Well-Woman Check

I woke up early today because I will be going to my well-woman check up. This is a long overdue supposed to be check up and it will be only today that I am going to do it. I should have it in May after a year of giving birth but I don't have nobody to watch our DD while I am inside the doctor's office. When hubby got back we became so busy and had the long vacation. And so the long list of reasons goes on and on and on.

Then in September I called and I was told that the next available appointment with our care provider will be in November. Holy molly! It's like 2 months of waiting. But I called the clinic early mornings just to get an earlier appointment. Then somebody from there called me that they put me in October 30 schedule. I just have to settle with it or else I have to wait for another month again for the next open schedule.

CAA Follow-up Appointment

I mentioned here before that I will apply for CAA - Career Advancement Account available for military spouses. My first appointment with the Department of Labor representative was on October 20. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the time so I called back and have it rescheduled and it was this afternoon, October 27th. The lady I supposed to be seeing was Ms. M but accordingly she is not in the program anymore so I saw Ms. J.

They will be giving a $3,000-$6,000 grant, if you will qualify, to finish a program that will enable you to become employable. This can be a certificate program in medical field or business that you will be finishing for a year or two before your service member sponsor retires from the military. The service member should have 5 years or below before he ETS.

I did the necessary paper works already. Since I am already in a certificate program right now and have 2 classes left then I may be good to go. Of course, I still have to wait if funds is available for it. I have two more requirements to submit to them, my SS card and the form that my school will complete to let them know how much I need to pay for the rest of my classes. So hopefully by next quarter I will not spend out of my pocket to pay for my schooling.

Short Day

Every Friday hubby have short day at work. The only thing though is that even if they have short day he has the tendency to stay longer to do some work. When he will mention to me about having short day I will just tell him that I don't expect him home early. I do understand the nature of his job but there are times I feel that he should be home if they get to have short days. What is the reason for having such a chance when he will not grab it? :-) I know, I am ranting here again but I just can't help it. I commend him for working too hard and I just want him to have space for himself away from work.

Last night after his class at 8pm he called me that he's going back to his office to get his laptop. I asked him what for. He said that he needs to finish some paperwork for today. What? I asked him if it can wait until the morning so when he gets home he can relax and rest. He said no because he will just think about it all night. That's him. Impatient to get a job done to the point of going back to his office to get something way beyond office hours. I wish he'll get paid with all his hardwork :-) I bet, he will bring home a fat paycheck.

Of Going Home

Last night I called my family back in the Philippines. I talked to my Mom first for 20 minutes then we got disconnected. I believe it's her cellphone's battery died. I called her back but cannot be reached already so I called my sister. She was at work but wasn't busy since they have dance practice.

When I was talking to my Mom she asked us when we can have our vacation. As I talked to my sister she was also asking me repeatedly to come home because they all missed us and they wanted to see hubby and our DD. It will be 4 years already in December 10 that I haven't seen my family. My sister told me that our father, 77 years old and still very active, asked them all the time if I mentioned to them of vacationing. Every time I called its either he is at the farm or out of the house so we haven't talked that much.

Now came my dilemma. It's my parents 50th wedding anniversary and my siblings are planning of giving them a celebration as well as reunion for the whole family. My brother who works overseas will be coming home as well. If we are not going home then it will not be a complete reunion. My sister also hit some sensitive fact that our parents are not getting any younger.

After I talked to them I kind of have a heavy heart. Confused of what to do. I wanted to go home but can we afford it? It is a fact that everything is expensive nowadays no exception to air fare. Last night me and hubby were discussing what to do. He, himself, wanted to go to the Philippines but he only has two weeks for vacation in December then we have school too. We have to spend around $5000 for airfare and stay there only for 10 days. I think it is very impractical thing to do.

I wish we can find a way real soon because time flies very fast. We already have one option that we know we can save a lot but it is a 50-50 shot. I know we can do it if I wanted to but we have to allot more time to it and compromise some things. I am just so confused right now.

Father and Daughter Date

Right now, as I am typing this post, hubby and our DD have a date. It's already night, I know, but hubby wanted to go out and bring our DD with him so I can have the chance to study for my test tomorrow. I really don't like the idea, am I possessive? :-), no; it's just that I feel alone when our DD or hubby is not around. But I need to concentrate and study for my exam so hubby decided to bring her to the mall. Before they go out the house I have so many instructions to hubby about our DD :-) He said that I have to shush and he has everything in control :-)

Anyways, it feels different that there's nobody bothering me here right now. Even though I am reading my book and notes but still my mind can't help but think about them outside. Oh well, I know they will have a good time. I told hubby too to pass by Walmart on their way home to get her diaper and some stuff. I hope they will not stay out too long because it's cold and I don't want her colds to get worst. I miss them already :-)

Cool Piano Bars

I am picky when I go to certain bars. I like listening to good music so when we go out, especially at night, I make sure that the place we are going to hang out with have a good music lounge; example of which is having a piano bar that we can listen to good music while having chitchat or having dinner as well as dance to the music. Talking to a Friend

Last night my friend C in Pennsylvania called me. I have been calling her but she wasn't answering. I got worried and thought that she is deployed since she joined the Army as reserve and then transfer to National Guard. So when she called I was really very glad. She just got very busy with work, school and also their scheduled formation at the NG. Both her and her husband is in the Guard.

She told me that their unit has an impending deployment this coming January 09. She thought she will be going but she still has to undergo another training in Ft. Sam, Houston. She is glad in a way but she know whether she likes it or not after her training she will be deployed. I pray that whenever it will be, that she will be safe. It was glad talking to her again after many months of not being able to.

Hotels in Las Vegas

One of the cities that I wanted to visit one day is Las Vegas. I heard a lot of things about the city and it really got my curiosity. I wanted to see the very well known Vegas strip that is well-lighted at night time. My cousin who works as a nurse in Sacramento said that they had a great time in Las Vegas. She told me about the different buildings they've seen and the hotel in las vegas that they've stayed in was really great. I guess they have the grandiose hotels there to stay in with. Just look at the hotel in the picture, the Bellagio, where it is very elegant and huge. I am hoping that soon we can visit the sin city and enjoy its beauty.

Are you still coming home?

The above question is what I always ask hubby when I call him passed 5pm when he is still not at home. Sometimes he has the tendency to forget the time that its already time to go home. I asked him that question just to annoy him :-) But he always laugh at me when I ask him. He is very workaholic and he even forget to eat his lunch because, according to him, he's engrossed with his work. That is why when he complain to me that he's hungry or what it does irritate me since he is doing it to himself; that is forgetting the time.

One time he came home from work and said that he is hungry and don't have anything for lunch. Because I don't like hearing him complain I snapped and told him that it is his fault. I know I am mean but he can get his food at lunch time but he opt not to have a lunch break. I always told him he need to pack his lunch but he like his food freshly prepared all the time. Oh well, it is his body and he is old enough what to do, eh? :-)

School and Work

Today is hubby's day to go to school but he just called me couple of minutes ago that he will be late because he got busy at the office. Very early this morning he went to work bringing all his gears. They have schedule to go to the shooting range for some shooting practice. They do this as a continuous training being in the military. He was telling me that he will come home first to change before going to the college. Unfortunately, since he got busy, he will go to school not changed and with one ear still clogged up with the shooting effect.

This is one problem when you juggle school and work because you cannot expect your time for school will not overlapped with your time at work. Good thing for colleges that hubby goes to they understand and give considerations to service members.

Favorite Dessert

I think our Moms are the best cook when it comes to home made food. For almost four years now I crave for her cooking. Every time my Mom cooks I can eat a lot. So now that my Mom is not around if I want to cook something that she cooked to me back home I will call her. She has one food that I love; her sweet potato pie. We have sweet potato crop in our farm and my parents will harvest if she will cook it for us.

I wanted to cook this dessert since it is one of my favorites and I found a recipe with a twist at myrecipes.com. Now I will be able to cook my fave dessert. I know hubby will love it because he loves my sweet potato que :-) Our DD also love sweet potato. I have the ingredients here except for the crust. Hopefully we can go out and get the rest of the ingredients.

Is your Christmas Tree Up Yet?

Hubby asked me when are we going to put up our Christmas tree. I really don't know because now that our DD is very active I am pretty sure she will be pulling the decors off the tree. We have a 6 ft Christmas tree and I am afraid if she is pulling the decors it will fall on her. But then if we put it up we will have to make something so she can't go near it. So we plan to put it up in November after the Halloween. In the Philippines we usually put up our tree in the month of October. I wanted to do it here but with a toddler around it is impossible. So how about you? When are you going to put you Christmas tree up?

ER Trip

On Saturday after my class hubby said that we are going to Tacoma mall. I haven't been out to the mall for almost a month already. When we were changing to go out hubby got a call from their CQ desk. The soldier on duty told him that they have a situation. One of hubby's soldier was in the ER. This guy was the one they have some problem on.

So instead of going to the mall we passed by the hospital first. We thought we will only be there for 30 minutes but unfortunately we were there for almost 3 hours. Me and our DD stayed in the truck though. When they got out we went to their office and we waited for another 25 minutes. It was really frustrating because I only wasted my time waiting. If I have only known I could just stayed at home. Adding to my frustration was our DD's fussiness. I think she felt the frustration of being stuck in the car waiting too. Grrrr...

Pop Up TV

One of the tips I learned from watching HGTV is how to maximize your space if you have a small living space. If you have a small bedroom and you want to have a television inside, you can opt for a pop up tv and either put it against the wall or at the foot of your bed. In doing so, you can have the television properly stored and out of the way when not in use. It is really a good idea because we know that television is a big item and if you constantly see it inside a small room, it will make the room crowded. This is what we need right now. Big Monitor

Last night hubby bought a cable that connects our computer to our television. He has been planning on it since I subscribed to TFC online. So last night he accomplished his plan. He bought the cable and connected our 32 inches flat screen TV to it and it worked. We have a big monitor now if I wanted to use it. I can type on the keyboard and the monitor is on top of the fireplace. It is very cool :-) I did not know that you can do it but hubby said it does work :-) It is very interesting how this new technology works. Now we can watch DVD on our computer using our television as the monitor :-)

Hobby
